Vietnam Startup Awards 2023: Honoring Remarkable Achievements in the Startup Ecosystem
For the first time in Vietnam, the Vietnam Startup Awards – a national program honoring the startup ecosystem – has been officially organized. The program comprises 15 categories to honor startups, individuals, organizations, incubation programs, accelerators, and more that have made significant contributions to the startup ecosystem, contributing to the overall entrepreneurial development of the country.
According to Mr. Pham Van Thu, Head of the Innovative Technology Park Development Village, the program is in collaboration with the national creative startup competition Techfest 2023, under the guidance of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Science and Technology. The strategic partner is VINGROUP, along with several other important partners.
Additionally, the program is supported by reputable organizations such as the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, NaTec (Market Development and Science & Technology Business Development Department under the Ministry of Science and Technology), Startup Vietnam Foundation - SVF (Vietnam Science and Technology Business Startup Fund), Project 844 (Support for the Entrepreneurial and Innovative Ecosystem until 2025), and NSSC (National Startup Support and Creativity Center).
This initiative is spearheaded by the Innovative Technology Park Development Village, connecting with over 30 technology villages within Techfest, various associations, and centers related to promoting science, technology, and innovation startups.
Regarding the program's objectives, Mr. Pham Van Thu stated, "We hope that the program will contribute to fostering the spirit of entrepreneurship, creativity, and technological innovation, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of Vietnamese businesses in the context of international integration."
One of the specific objectives of the Vietnam Startup Awards is to build a creative startup ecosystem with an emphasis on inheritance and connectivity. This approach aims to collectively transmit values, lessons, knowledge, and technologies developed to the next generation.
"Currently, Vietnam's startup ecosystem is expanding widely. We have also organized numerous startup competitions in universities and incubation and acceleration programs. However, the connectivity and inheritance aspects are not yet strong. Therefore, what we need now is to build connections and value, strengthen resources, and expand entrepreneurial and innovative activities globally," Mr. Pham Van Thu elaborated.

The second important goal of the Vietnam Startup Awards is to concentrate the startup and innovation ecosystem on a national platform. "We propose the establishment of the 247InnovationPark platform, where the exceptional Startups.edu.vn entrepreneurial education model and the Vietnam Startup Awards recognition program will be developed. These platforms and models will gather initiatives, knowledge, and scientific and technological contributions to address significant challenges faced by the government, businesses, and society, fostering innovation, openness, and deep development."
As the startup ecosystem develops in both breadth and depth, based on a solid foundation, it will facilitate individuals and entities in connecting with international resources and exchanging knowledge. The reality is that many overseas Vietnamese and foreign experts are eager to contribute to the startup and innovation processes in Vietnam. They need a platform, a program to connect and integrate international resources into this ecosystem, and the "Vietnam Startup Awards" serves as a credible and effective "bridge" and destination.
It's worth noting that the nomination period for the Vietnam Startup Awards 2023 began on August 6, 2023, and will continue until September 1, 2023, with the collaboration of over 30 technology villages at the national Techfest.
The award ceremony for the Vietnam Startup Awards program is scheduled to take place within the framework of the Techfest 2023 Entrepreneurship and Innovation Festival at the Techfest 2023 venue.
